1. Who we are

tipme (tipme.lv) is run by Mārtiņš, Brīvības iela, Riga, LV-1001, Latvia. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

If you have a question about your data, write to support@tipme.lv.

2. What we collect

If you have a tipme account

  • Your name, email address and profile photo, from the sign-in you use (email, Google or another provider).
  • The payment details you add: account holder name and IBAN, Revolut or PayPal username, or your own payment link. These are public. Anyone with your tip code can see them, because that is how guests pay you.
  • Your tip codes and their settings, such as names and suggested amounts.
  • A push subscription for your browser or phone, if you turn on notifications.
  • Messages you send us.

If you leave a tip

You don't need an account. When you open one of the worker's payment options, we record the amount, the currency, the method you chose and the time, linked to the worker and not to you. We never see your bank details or whether the payment went through. Your IP address is used briefly to stop abuse and is not saved with the tip.

For everyone

Basic technical information: the type of device and browser, pages visited and a rough location from your IP address. We collect it through server logs and privacy-friendly analytics that do not use cookies.

3. Why we use it

  • To run your account, your tip page and your codes. This is needed to provide the service you signed up for (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).
  • To tell you when a guest starts a tip, if you turned notifications on. You can turn them off at any time.
  • To keep tipme secure, stop fraud and abuse, and understand how the site is used so we can improve it. These are our legitimate interests (article 6(1)(f)).
  • To answer your messages and send important notices about your account. We don't send marketing without your consent.
  • To meet legal obligations (article 6(1)(c)).

4. Payments

tipme does not process payments and never holds money. Guests pay workers directly in their own bank, Revolut, PayPal or the worker's payment link. That provider handles the payment and its own privacy policy applies to it.

5. Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers who process data for us under data processing agreements:

  • Clerk: sign-in and accounts
  • Convex: database
  • Vercel: hosting
  • PostHog: analytics, hosted in the EU
  • Resend: email
  • Google, Apple or Mozilla push services: delivering notifications to your device, only if you turn them on

Some of these providers are based in the United States. Transfers outside the EU/EEA are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

We share data with authorities only when the law requires it. We don't sell your data.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile, payment details, tip codes, tip activity and push subscriptions are deleted straight away, and your tip page stops working. Copies in our providers' backups are removed on their normal backup cycle.

If you used tipme before November 2026, records of card tips processed through Stripe at that time are kept for as long as accounting law requires.

Analytics data and server logs are kept only as long as needed to understand how the site is used and to investigate problems.

7. Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, give you a copy to take elsewhere, or stop or limit how we use it. You can delete your account yourself in your account settings, or write to support@tipme.lv.

If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Data State Inspectorate of Latvia (Datu valsts inspekcija, www.dvi.gov.lv) or to the data protection authority where you live.

8. Cookies

tipme only uses cookies that the site needs to work: to keep you signed in and to remember your language. Our analytics run without cookies, so we don't ask for cookie consent.

9. Age

You need to be 18 or older to create a tipme account. If you think a child has created an account, let us know and we'll delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters to how we use your data, we'll tell account holders by email or in the app before it takes effect.
